In the first two months of business, the crowds have not stopped flocking to Wicked Fresh Craft Burgers for a fixing of fresh burgers made to order. The original restaurant has hit a homerun so far with the locals in North Conway and will likely gain regional popularity as the summer crowds begin to flock to the White Mountains.
Marc and Kathy Ianuzzi, who successfully launched the White Mountain Cupcakery in 2009, have partnered with Danny and Angelys Rassi for this entrepreneurship to bring something to North Conway that was lacking, a dedicated burger joint. It is quite the family affair, given that Kathy and Danny are brother and sister, and Marc and Danny have been friends since they were teenagers.
Danny leads the kitchen and often greets customers dining at the restaurant, making sure everyone is enjoying the locally sourced products found in every burger recipe. His jovial way both in the kitchen and on the floor of the restaurant makes you feel like you're at lunch at a friend's house. Marc also has a great presence at the restaurant. Often at the front counter, he helps keep orders moving from the kitchen to the tables. He also offers up recommendations from the menu.
The restaurant décor is fun and edgy, custom designed by the architectural firm Prellwitz Chillinski of Cambridge, Massachusetts, led by interior designer Tracy Dupont. The innovative design features rustic metals and unfinished wood, trendy cement countertops and tables, and a giant graffiti wall custom designed by a family artist. Special touches from the Rassi and Ianuzzi family such as the branded paper goods, t-shirts and hats create a specialty vibe. The restaurant even has an inside herb growing wall where herbs of the day are used in savory recipes. The menu selection is unique to Wicked Fresh and offers specialty burgers made with locally sourced meats, and hand cut fries from Maine-sourced Green Thumb Potato Farms. The Wicked Hangry Burger, Wicked Gobbler, Mountain Man and, of course, the Wicked Burger all offer unique toppings, cheeses and homemade sauces. Draught beers and select wines, along with freshly blended ice cream shakes round out the offerings. The price range is affordable, the pace is fast and the setting eclectic and fun.
The new restaurant is situated at Settlers Corner, between the recently opened HomeGoods and renovated Staples store, in approximately 1,200 square feet. Wicked Fresh seats about 20 inside with seasonal outside dining.
Settlers Corner, along with Settlers Green Outlet Village, Settlers Crossing and Settlers Green Streetside, which is currently under construction and scheduled to open this fall, make up 500,000 square feet of retail space developed and managed by OVP Management, Inc.
