The biggest shopping event in New England: Bring A Friend

Settlers Green has built a reputation for hosting one of the most exciting shopping events in New England. Bring A Friend happens every November right around Veterans Day. As it has grown, it has expanded from a single day event into a 10-day extravaganza. This year it takes place from November 1-11, 2024.

The core of activities from the original single day event remains the biggest draw. Referred to as the “Big Day,” it all kicks off with a free bag giveaway where 1000 bags, stuffed with coupon books, exclusive offers and gifts, are handed out at 8 a.m. and are usually gone within 30 minutes. One bag includes a $500 Shopping Spree. Stores have extended hours, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the day is filled with entertainment and festivities. The “Big Day” this year is Saturday, November 9.

“For our retailers, the ‘Big Day’ is the busiest shopping day of the year, and it typically outperforms Black Friday,” said Marketing and Events Director Laura Lemieux. “It’s a party atmosphere. Shoppers get dressed up in holiday garb, wear group tees and hats, and are here to have fun.”

Event Highlights

• Premium Bags: 1000 bags are sold for $10 in advance of the event. Bags can be picked up anytime during the 10-day event at Customer Service. This is great for shoppers that don’t plan to come on the “Big Day”, which is when the Free Bag Giveaway takes place. The Premium Bag has different items in it that you won’t find in the free bag.
• Free Bag Giveaway: The centerpiece of the event, 1000 free bags are given out at 8 a.m. on the “Big Day.” One bag includes a $500 Shopping Spree. These bags are typically gone within 30 minutes. Tenants can provide items for these bags.
• Exclusive Deals: Shoppers are both treating themselves and shopping for the holidays. They are looking for an exclusive deal they will not find at their neighborhood store. Tenants can provide exclusive deals to increase traffic, conversions and brand awareness.
• Party Atmosphere: This is a festive event. Shoppers get dressed up in holiday garb, wear group tees and hats, and are here to have fun. There is a Costume Parade on November 9; Everyone that participates gets a free gift.
